PLAYER INTERVIEW: Andre Hamilton - FS - 2022
Palmetto Prep Academy’s Andre Hamilton recently sat down with Stewart Dolbeare to catch up on the upcoming season.
What made you choose Palmetto Prep Academy?
I chose Palmetto Prep because I wanted to compete against the best players around the country, soak up technique from coaches that are dedicated to perfecting my craft, and get an extra year of film.
What high school did you graduate from?
I graduated from Jay M Robinson in Concord, N.C.
What makes you a top prospect at your position in the 2022 recruiting class?
I’m a top prospect because I play multiple positions, am versatile, and the coaches and my teammates can count on me. I can come down in the box and get physical or cover the deep ball over the top. So if you’re looking for a “dog” on the field, it’s me.
What is one thing that colleges and universities should know about you?
I’m balanced. I work hard on and off the field. In me, they will have a true representative of a student-athlete.
What are you thinking about majoring in when you get to college?
I want to major in business management as I’d like to own my own business one day like my parents.
What is the best advice you have ever received?
“To get something you never had, you have to do something you never did.”
Overcoming adversity is what defines character; what was the most challenging moment in your life to overcome?
The hardest moment I’ve ever had to face was losing my baby sister Cara. It was something that I never thought could happen to our family, but when it did, it was very hard on everyone. Seeing my Mom and Dad start a nonprofit organization (called Cara’s Purpose) for babies like Cara that are born with illnesses is very uplifting and inspirational.
Do you have any offers currently ?
I Have an offer from Saint Andrew’s and Bluefield College.
If you could sell yourself in one sentence, what would you say?
Whoever takes a chance on me will not be disappointed; I’ve always been the underdog, and I’m ready to wake everyone up!
