Player interview Avinash Das - DT - 2022

by Palmetto Media

Palmetto Prep Academy’s Avinash Das recently sat down with Stewart Dolbeare to catch up on the upcoming season.

What made you choose Palmetto Prep Academy?

I was blown away by the number of talented recruits that have walked through the doors and received scholarships at top universities on the way out the door at Palmetto prep.

What high school did you graduate from?

Montgomery Blair High School in Maryland.

What makes you a top prospect at your position in the 2022 recruiting class?

My dedication on and off the field is what makes me a top recruit in this class. No one is better than me in my position with how I carry myself and my knowledge on the field. No one has the precise technique I portray on the field.

What is one thing that colleges and universities should know about you?

You're getting a team player that will work to build a team culture, on the field, in the weight room and in the classroom. You will be getting a player who is willing to sacrifice his personal interests for the team. As a player, you are getting a player who will do anything to achieve his goal of becoming better on and off the field. Nothing will get in the way of this goal, whether that be drugs or girls. Every time I pick up the weights and or put my cleats on for practice, I think about my family and the hardships and sacrifices I've made to get to where I am today. I want to leave the college I am going to attend with a degree in my major and a shot at the NFL.

What are you thinking about majoring in when you get to college?

I want to major in business management.

What is the best advice you have ever received?

The best piece of advice I have ever received is to trust nothing but your own ability to get what you want.

Overcoming adversity is what defines character, what was the hardest moment in your life to overcome?

Living my life on my own most of the time, growing up without a mother was very difficult. This tragedy has shaped me into who I am today.  I call my grandma my mother anytime I call her because she took me as her child, and I have always called her my mother since a kid. My dad sent me to India to live with my grandmother because it was too difficult for him to raise me here, and so I lived with no parents there, going to school for two years then coming back to the U.S.

Do you have any offers currently

Before signing with Palmetto, I had offers from Wesley College, Wilkes University, and Sterling College.

If you could sell yourself in one sentence what would you say?

I am the best player to ever step on the field; when I step on the field, I tell myself no one has ever faced as many challenges as I have, and no one needs it as much I do to get that offer I need for a better future.
