PLAYER INTERVIEW: Cooper Dunnighan - G - 2022

by Palmetto Media

Palmetto Prep Academy’s  Cooper Dunnighan recently sat down with  Stewart Dolbeare to catch up on the upcoming season.

What made you choose Palmetto Prep Academy?

I chose Palmetto Prep because I felt the pandemic put a damper on recruiting the class of 2021. Palmetto Prep is a program that can help me regain momentum in recruiting and help me to achieve my dream of playing college football.

What high school did you graduate from?

I graduated from Pulaski County High School in Dublin, Virginia.

What makes you a top prospect at your position in the 2022 recruiting class?

My physicality, work ethic, dedication to the weight room, and knowledge of the game make me a top prospect for the class of 2022.

What is one thing that colleges and universities should know about you?

I would like colleges and universities to know that I am a good student in the classroom. I am a hard worker on and off the field that is a dedicated and loyal teammate.

What are you thinking about majoring in when you get to college?

When I get to college, I plan on majoring in Computer Science. I would like to one day be a programmer.

What is the best advice you have ever received?

The best advice I have been given was from my mom, “Life will get bumpy from time to time, but those are the tests of life that make you stronger.”

Overcoming adversity is what defines character, what was the hardest moment in your life to overcome?

The most challenging moment I had ever had to overcome was when I suffered a knee injury at the end of my sophomore season. The injury took months of rehab and recovery and was mentally tough on me. I missed both my basketball and baseball seasons that year and learned that being persistent and persevering through this adversity only made me a better athlete.

Do you have any offers currently?

I currently have some D2 offers.

If you could sell yourself in one sentence what would you say?

To sell myself in one sentence I would say, “I am a hard-working, driven individual who isn't afraid to face a challenge.”
