PLAYER INTERVIEW: DARIUS RUNNER- DE-2022

Palmetto Prep Academy’s Darius Runner recently sat down with Stewart Dolbeare to catch up on the upcoming season.

What made you choose Palmetto Prep Academy?

I think attending Palmetto Prep will aid in my physical and mental development for the next level.

What high school did you graduate from? 

I graduated from Suncoast high school in Florida. 

What makes you a top prospect at your position in the 2022 recruiting class?

I think that my height, athleticism, skill set, and intangibles make me one of the better prospects in my class.

What is one thing that college and universities should know about you?

They should know that I am a hard worker and I love to learn new things and I am constantly looking for things to make me smarter or better than I was. 

What are you thinking about majoring in when you get to college?

I am thinking about majoring in sports medicine because if football doesn't work out, I'd like to be a physical therapist.

What is the best advice you have ever received?

The best advice I've received is that life continues to move forward whether you want it to or not, so you have to keep moving forward constantly. My coach used to say, "the sun is going to keep rising and setting with or without you."

Overcoming adversity is what defines character, what was the hardest moment in your life to overcome

The hardest thing I've had to overcome is tearing my ACL in both knees. I missed time in sports and school.  I had to recover and go through physical therapy to get healthy and get myself back into the best shape possible while trying to catch up with school work.

 Do you have any offers currently?  

I do not have any offers currently. 

  If you could sell yourself in one sentence what would you say?

I'm a hard worker. I know how to work hard. I've had to fight and work my hardest while having obstacles in my face my whole life, so there isn't anything or any situation I feel I can't overcome; also, I love competition. So I always try to challenge myself to improve and get better.
