PLAYER INTERVIEW: Saim Safdar - LB - 2022

by Palmetto Media

Palmetto Prep Academy's Saim Safdar recently sat down with Sydney Cassidy to catch up on the upcoming season.

1. What made you choose Palmetto Prep Academy?

I chose Palmetto Prep Academy to enhance my recruitment and to gain more experience to better prepare me to compete on the next level. Coming from a small town, Palmetto offers a great deal of exposure and allows me to showcase my talents on a bigger platform than what I'm used to.

2. What high school did you graduate from?

I graduated from Ridgefield Park High School.

3. What makes you a top prospect at your position in the 2022 recruiting class?

A few reasons as to why I am a top prospect in the class of 2022 is because I have a high IQ at the edge position, and I can get in coverage as well. I excel at my position with speed, strength, and always being in the right place at the right time, trusting the coaches game plan. With that being said, I also am a leader on and off the field and by vocal.

4. What is one thing that colleges and universities should know about you?

One of my traits is that no matter where you put me I turn it into a positive with working hard and wanting what's best for the team by leading the way.

5. What are you thinking about majoring in when you get to college?

I want to major in business management and minor in fashion.

6. What is the best advice you have ever received?

Probably that doors open backwards. Every decision you make will be a door opening and that will lead you to more doors and so on. When opening these doors, you don't know where you're going, but when you look back, you understand why what happened happened. That's why the doors open backwards.

7. Overcoming adversity is what defines character; what was the hardest moment in your life to overcome?

Growing up there were plenty of obstacles that I have crossed, dealing with not knowing where I would spend the next day, whether that'd be at my grandmother's, mother's, or aunt's. Then losing my aunts, and uncle as I was growing up took a toll on me mentally.

8. Do you have any offers currently?

I currently don't have any offers but hopefully will gain offers and colleges can see my full attention.

9. If you could sell yourself in one sentence what would you say?

No matter what I always strive for more and push myself to be the best me I can possibly be.
